THE QUESTION

Black Community ever thought of learning skill of improving themself and community by learning from other susscessfull immigrants like Indian, Mexicans, who are financially successful in just who year
Most Indians from India like myself came to USA with just $ 7.25 cents in last 3-4 dacades like 30 to 40 years, most of them were edjucated but I have seen many without good edjucation or marketable skills worked hard, saved money by letting go instant fun like alcohol, drugs, clubs etc. and invested that money in business. Now some of them are very welthy, economically succhessful and well off.

Most black people I have come accross are smart, hard working but complain about economic hardship or level ground as my personal experience America is ocen of wealth, and opportunity where you can take your glass, or a bucket or you can put your hose and pump as much as you want. Fun part is you can decide the size of hose and pump no one is going to stop you pumping this wealth.

I have seen other immigrants done it day in and day out so why not shake of fear and doubt and learn from each other in improving self and other in the family then town then state and nation. I have seen some of the balcks like Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, Eddy Murphy and all the NBA and NFL players done it.

So it can be done by any body who wants to be successful.

ddbanker24, there are everyday success stories about members of the black community transforming themselves from victims to victors. We need to share these inspirational stories. Examples can be found in Bill Cosby and Dr. Poussaint's book "Come On People". The book also presents eye-opening and heart-breaking statistics on the state of emergency facing the at risk group of young black men.

Do read the book and share with the members of the COS Communities your thoughts. Do these success stories inspire you? Would they be familiar to successful immigrants? Are there any significant differences between these success stories and the stories of successful immigrants be they from Asia or Africa? Do you have personal insights that can help communities across America? What can you give back to the land of "milk and honey" to help our struggling communities?

This isn't to disrespect you or be rude, but in trying to read your question, I found that you have a lack of history and spelling education. That implies to me, that the reason you have this question about black people is because you are poorly educated. There are many african american people who are doing more than whats portrayed in the media, and certainly more than the black people you have encountered. One main reason there are so many immigrants, such as your people that have successful businesses, is because the U.S government funds it, through programs and grants. A grant is free money that you never have to pay back. If a black man or woman tries to get a loan, it is more difficult, and the interest would be crazy. We aren't as fortunate to have free money given to us. That tells me that your people aren't hard workers. they just know how to accept free money. I unlike yourself, cant put all of one race into a category, but I can find out the facts. If you want to really know the truth about anything, you should study, not assume. There was a live broadcast on CSPAN today that talked about changing the illegal alien and immigrant laws. There is going to be an ammendment added to enforce the investigation and legal aspects of giving grants and funds to people who are not American citizens. I think that it would behov you to learn more about many things, because you are lacking in many areas. We know that america is a great place, but unlike you and your people, we were forced here. You and your people come voluntarily, because your country is so primitive.

I've often wondered this myself. I understand many of us were brought to this country as slaves, but that doesn't mean we have to be in bondage for the rest of our lives. I went to college on Pell grants. If people can't afford to attend a university, start at a community college and live at home. I did that, too. There are too many opportunities in this country that we are not tapping into.

We have to find vision and stop limiting ourselves. Anyone who wants an education now can get one. Anyone who wants to start a business can start one even if it starts out as an Internet business. It might take creativity, but we have it.

The world doesn't want to hear our excuses anymore, as valid as they may be. I was just telling a friend tonight that I have to give up my excuses, which are really just masked fear. Let's do what successful people have done regardless of what race they are.

I kind of think about the black American situation like an analogy of an adopted abused child. If a wealthy family adopted 5 children (white, black, Indian, Asian, Hispanic) and told them "me casa est tu casa"-we are happy you are here in our house and you can have anything you want. In fact, we are going to take you to the mall-the free market-you can have whatever you want. If the black child is the only one that has been mentally, physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually abused most of his life, it would not be realistic to expect that he/she will behave in that mall or in that house the same as his/her brothers and sisters. He or she could be just as smart and have equal access to everything that his or her siblings has access to...but will most likely NOT respond the same. Should the parents get disgusted and toss him/her aside? Should the peers feel that their brother/sister needs to "snap out of it" and "get over it" because our parents have our best interest in mind? Will the child go out and binge to make up for the pain in their heart or will they rebel and not get out of the car or will they shoplift to seek revenge? Who knows the right answer?Because you just don't know unless you have experienced and survived the abuse. So is it possible to salvage a child who has been traumatized? Of course it is. Look at Oprah. She and others did not just land at the top of their game. It is through acknowledgement of the abuse and seeking healing for the pain that they can take advantage of the opportunity that U.S. provides to its citizens. Right now, many blacks are still in pain and folks just want them to get over it and stop whining. Right now many blacks are moving through the pain through education and exposure and folks just want to ignore that they are moving in the right direction and headed for success. Some even want to pull the rug right from under their feet because they seem to be moving too quickly. So I agree with some of gina19's comment. Education is the key to understanding your black sisters and brothers still living with pain.

In response to this question and a few of the answers that some members have provided, African Americans have an abundance of success stories within their own communities without ever having to look outside of it. I have a feeling of how dare you, but I will not indulge the insults that have been given. If, and this is a huge if, anyone feels within themselves to have the audacity to assume a judgement of failure towards any one person or any one group of people, they should first and foremost look within and try to understand why, when, where, and how this point of view has come upon them and how can they resist the negative, judgemental ugliness within themselves. Anyone in the world of any race can be a shinning example of positivity and success to the entire world regardless of race, and to state that the Black community needs to look at another group of people to be motivated to be successful is (if you didn't know already) hateful. A statement like that should never be made until a person has all of their facts straight. I do not see and never have seen any one group of people where everyone or even the majority of them is middle class, well to do or rich. Each and every race in at least America, have the complete spectrum from poor to successful on up to wealthy within each group. Just look at the public records that provide a breakdown of how every American community is doing financially, socially, educationally. Please, please, please, people, educate yourself before you make dispariging comments about any one group of people. Especially the ones you personally relate to.

Also, shame on you who have agreed in one form or fashion whether you've jumped in the band wagon with this statement/question. or you just wanted a opportunity to just have something to say. For shame, for shame. Have some pride, and dignity. We have an abundance to show for right in our own back yards and to fall victim to an insinuation of inferiority is one of the oldest tricks in the book that we should be a pro to have the ability to recognize after the first few words out of any predators mouth.

Peace and blessings.

MANTRA:
United States of America is an Ocean of wealth, you can take a cup, (welfare, handout, donations) or a Bucket (a Job) or put a pump with pipes and a reservoir, the most beautiful thing is you can design and determine size and shape of your pump. A business enterprise) no other country in the world provides this opportunity. I am an Asian American from India to be specific; most of us came with $ 7.00 to the port of entry not to long ago. Some of us have Millions and children with good education.

This is not to showoff to my other fellow Americans Native, White, Black, Asians or Hispanics just to encourage them, that if it is done by us then it possible that any one else with focus and determination to achieve this can do it.
