Freelancerighter says:
The minister's words were designed to draw in those harboring old hurts and to whip up a frenzy of anger. It may be a way to sell yourself, but I doubt if those that experienced the original sin would agree with the methods. They were wise enough to know that anger begets anger and that only through knowledge and understanding would the dignified respect they sought be found.

In other words, Martin Luther, he ain't.

let reverend wright speak. nothing wrong with other black voices coming into the national mix. debate is good every now and again. yes, one of MLK's most powerful tactics was shaming people in power and in the nation to "live up to the meaning in it's creed." i see rev wright as posing a similar truth. i don't see anything wrong with a method that must be aggressive just to generate media space. and, NO, i don't think gaining a foothold in the national media was the rev's primary intention. the world now recognizes the man for two minutes of dialogue just like howard dean was known for one yelp! that yelp was repeated every night for months to question dean's sanity. howard dean was building support and mobilizing people. there was a concerted effort to make him look like a fool. HYAH!... reverend wright's two minutes of infamy is in teh same way. concerted effort to make him look like a fool --in an election year--with a black candidate--who supported him... c'mon, now. get beyond politricks.

listen to rev. wright address the NAACP Convention in Detroit this Spring and tell me this man isn't sane, intelligent and possesses meaning in his words.
