THE QUESTION

How can we contact Mr.Cosby to visit the Philadelphia youth in our summer camp?
Each year Young Achievers provides quality programming to needy families in our community. Through our year round before and after school and summer day camp programs we touch the lives of many at risk youth and their families.

Young Achievers is a licensed non-profit organization established for the past 8 years. We are community advocators providing quality educational opportunities that enable each child to grow into an inspired, productive lifelong learner. Young Achievers programming provides assistance in educational academics, performing art, social-peer interaction, and preventive workshops with topics such as juvenile delinquency and drug awareness. As well as, outdoor trips to local museums, recreational parks, and theater productions.

95% of the children we serve (ages 5-13) come from underprivileged, low-income families and are at risk youth. A visit by someone like Mr.Cosby would greatly impact the children and families we serve. Instead of the children sitting home alone watching television or running the streets while parents are working, they have Young Achievers’ caring professionals directly supervise and engage them in a meaningful educational activities. Our mission is to educate, provide a safe and orderly environment to each child we serve.

We would love ot have Mr.Cosby come and visit with us.

i have a biding interest in talking to young [black] people about their lives and the power in the process they are living through. i believe sharing my journey from black boy to black man in america is one of my life's callings.

there used to be an internal dialogue going on in the minds of black children about what it means to be black in america. we had to think such thoughts because the definitions placed on us were not our own. the definitions still exist is some sectors but the INTERNAL dialogue, the battling with, the caring about, the holding onto, the pride in being, the joy in living that blackness... is lacking. i want t talk about that reality and what it may mean for our future.

i've started by telling my black boy story. i talk about my middle school years and the transformations that took place there in terms of how i felt about myself as a black boy becoming a black man. click on the link below and watch a video or two. let me know what comes up internally for you. if you are interested in having me speak to your group this summer or beyond, email bygincpresents@live.com with details.
