THE QUESTION

How can society best address the epidemic of molestation and statuatory rape?
Is it just me, or is this becoming more prominent in society? There are so many aspects to it. Could this ruin society since it generally goes unreported? And is this what has caused the youth to become more 'fast' per generation?

Society as a whole needs to stop treating the victims as the guilty party. That is why alot of people do not come forward for fear of retaliation or public riticule.

I also feel that the penalties for such an action should be more severe for the first offense and that any repeat offenders should not be eligible for parole.

Also, in the case of statuatory rape I believe that the situation should also be looked at closely. Some girls have made that accusation out of anger with a boyfriend. I know of one who did. She eventually retracted her statement but the damage had been done. Her dad was so upset that he would not drop the charges.

This was not the first person she had been intimate with. She made the statement 3 months before her 18th birthday, her boyfriend had turned 18 two months earlier.
