THE QUESTION

What can i do to help my son? He's six years old and there isn't a father figure around and he's constantly under me.
I need help with this because i am a single parent and as an african american i see that african american boys and men have it very hard in america, and i don't want to loose my son to those streets when he gets older. Right now he's spolied because he's my only son, and i did that because i am the mother and father in his life right now. We moved to another state and he does'nt like the school he was in so he was'nt interested in learning. But when we went back up North where we came from and it was time for us to go back south he cried because he said he did'nt want to go to school there in the south. So i'm thinking that when my lease is up in December i will bring my kids back up North.

tremmi says:
1. Join a good church with a good youth program.
2. One of the best things for kids is boy scouts, you can be active as den mother and other ways, plus he'll have access to other men for role models.
3. As the mother of 2 boys I can tell you more about gobots and transformers than dolls and more about football than beauty pageants, but I've enjoyed every minute of it. Now that my boys are 29 and 32, I can still talk to them so easy about anything and they come to me for anything.
4. Take him to ballgames and things boys would like, let the housework wait, then teach him to do housework, laundry and stuff also explaining you want him to be able to have a cool and hip home when he's grown.
5. Teach him to cook, lots of male role models here on the food channel. Emmeril, Bobby Flay, the husband on the Neelys, and the newest food star Aaron who is African American. Invite some his boy friends over and have a pizza night where they get to top their own pizza's.

The more you expose him to other in a fun and learning atmostphere, the more independent he will become. You can do girl!!!!
